God I can't wait for football season to start up. My San Diego Chargers are looking pretty strong in the off season. The addition of Vincent Jackson to our receiving core seems like just the right move. This kid can play, and he is huge. I was concerned with defensive tackle Luis Castillo (or "steroid boy" as he is affectionately known as), but after reading up on him, he seems like a good guy who made one mistake. I really hope the back office gets real and signs some of these other guys (Antonio Gates, and Shawne Merriman). Unlike Merriman, Gates is the man for showing up to every practice without a contract. He might lose a bit of a bargaining chip by not holding out but what he gains in respect from both the fans and the coaching staff is awesome.
I am a bit worried about the Chiefs, they have really built up their defense. The Chiefs already had a truly awesome offense, they didn't seem to lose any big name players and although they didn't sign Az-Zahir Hakim, they got Freddie Mitchell (if he can keep his mouth shut he might be just what they needed). Now the question is, is the offense young enough to compete. On defense the additions of Kendrell Bell, Patrick Surtain, Sammy Knight, and rookie linebacker Derrick Johnson, should make the Chiefs tough to beat. Last year I flew to Kanas City for the game it was truly a blast. I hope I can afford to go to a few games this season.
The Raders have built up their offense but at the expense of their defense. They never should have let Napoleon Harris go, even if they got Randy Moss for him. Moss can catch anything thrown his way and Kerry Collins can throw the ball farther and higher then anyone else in the league, but can he do it on purpose? I expect Oakland to score a ton of points but not even close to what they give up on defense. They should have learned from the Chiefs last couple of seasons.
Denver has the worst out look in the AFC west I believe. Although I really like their young running back Tatum Bell and believe he will have a huge season, I don't believe they are going to even win half their games.
It should be an awesome season, I truly can't wait.
